John 15

Today we are reading John 15. In this chapter we read about Jesus teaching about what our faith produces. The keyword for this chapter is “phe-ro”. The definition is “to carry, to bear”. “”I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” John‬ ‭15:1-2, 5, 16‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We understand that as Jesus teaches He is speaking about the good things that are part of our life as a result of our relationship with Jesus. This is the fruit we bear. We say good things. We do good things. We are involved with good things. We invest eternally. We share our faith and more people come to believe in Jesus as their Savior. By bearing fruit we are raising up the next generation of believers in Jesus. Jesus calls us to bear fruit that will last.  Pastor Tim
