Today we are reading John 13. In this chapter we read about Jesus washing the disciples’ feet, Judas’ betrayal, Peter’s denial and the New Commandment. “Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, so now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going you cannot come.’ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.””
John 13:33-35 ESV The “New Commandment” is also the summary of the commandments which focus on our neighbors. Jesus says we are to love one another just as He has loved us. That is a challenging task! How can you begin to love your neighbors sacrificially? What specific things are you doing now to love your neighbors? What are your neighbors’ needs? May God bless you with new and wonderful ideas for loving your neighbors! Pastor Tim
