Today we are reading Jeremiah 48. In this chapter we read about God’s judgement toward Moab which is in modern-day Jordan. “”In the shadow of Heshbon fugitives stop without strength, for fire came out from Heshbon, flame from the house of Sihon; it has destroyed the forehead of Moab, the crown of the sons of tumult. Woe to you, O Moab! The people of Chemosh are undone, for your sons have been taken captive, and your daughters into captivity. Yet I will restore the fortunes of Moab in the latter days, declares the Lord.” Thus far is the judgment on Moab.” Jeremiah 48:45-47 ESV So the history with Moab is one of constant conflict with Israel. When Israel was weakened by a foreign power, Mōáb would take advantage of them. Since they opposed Israel, God punished them. Even their false god Chemosh was said to flee like a refugee. And so it is for us, the false gods of our time must flee when confronted with Jesus. What false gods are you contending with? May God give you a victory in Jesus’ name. Pastor Tim
