Habakkuk 1

Today we are reading Habakkuk 1. In this chapter we read about Habakkuk’s complaint against the people of Judah. God promises to punish them through the armies of the Chaldeans (Babylonians). “O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear? Or cry to you “Violence!” and you will not save? Why do you make me see iniquity, and why do you idly look at wrong? Destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise. So the law is paralyzed, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous; so justice goes forth perverted.” Habakkuk‬ ‭1:2-4‬ ‭ESV‬‬ as you read this description of God’s rebellious people, what similarities are there between their nation and ours? Have you ever looked at a tragic situation and wondered, “Why doesn’t God do something?” That seems to be the position of Habakkuk. He sees people doing horrible things and yet God does not intervene—or does He?? God sends the Chaldeans to punish those who have rejected Him. Is that what we are experiencing now? Pray for our nation to repent and turn from all our sinful ways. Pastor Tim
