Dear friends and members of Gloria Dei, Mike and I want to thank you for all your prayer during the last 6 months of Mike’s hospitalizations and skilled nursing care stays basically due to radiation treatments for prostate cancer. We know that the Lord has a plan for us and we seek and we have trusted HIS guidance,

We are happy to let you know that Mike was released last Friday from Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center and has finally come home.

We are thankful that his strength is improving and he is once again able to be up and about carefully walking with a walker.

Going forward, he still faces the battle with prostate cancer, so please continue in prayer for us for strength and the Lord’s continued guidance and blessings in this journey.

One of my sister’s coworkers has a 14 year old daughter who has been diagnosed with a tumor on her adrenal gland. God guided the medical staff, and held her in His hands, today when she had surgery. The tumor was encapsulated, meaning it does not appear to have spread to any other organs. Pray for continued healing from surgery, favorable results from additional testing, an uncomplicated recovery, and success in any additional treatment she may need. I am the person who walks all over the neighborhood when the weather is nice and has a lot of "friends" (both human and animal) that I visit with on my walks. One of those people is my friend Stephen whom I have been talking to on my walks for years. Last spring he had cancer for the second time. I went on a walk today because it was so beautiful and ran into Stephen. His cancer is back. This is the third round for him and he decided not to take treatment this time so it is simply a matter of time before he succumbs to the cancer. Stephen is an old "ZZ Top" biker dude. Please pray for him. I don't know if he is a Christian or not although in the past he has always been appreciative when I say that I will be praying for him. Please pray for his peace and that he knows God and feels his presence in his last days. He seems very resigned to his fate. Please, please keep him in your prayers.

An update on Liam. After about 8 weeks in the hospital he finally has made it home! He still has a small abscess but it is responding to antibiotics. They will check the size of the abscess in a few weeks with a MRI. He cannot walk or talk and is receiving therapy at Childserve. Please pray for his recovery - it is unlikely that he will ever be the way he was but he almost died several times so the fact that he is still here is a miracle. Please pray for his family who not only have to deal with Liam's health issues but also the financial repercussions of his long hospital stay and his long road to recovery. Thanks again for all of your prayers!! It's a miracle that he has made it this far.

To protect a firefighter, he climbed a high fence and, when he jumped down on the other side, he broke both lower legs and both ankles. He has had surgery, but will be on no weight bearing for 4-6 weeks, them limited weight bearing, followed by physical therapy. Please ask for physical healing, emotional healing and patience for him and his family, and that they trust God’s plan for them.

An update on Liam and a request for immediate prayers. He was looking a bit better and was breathing on his own but tonight he began to go downhill again. His brain is becoming inflamed and that inflammation is preventing the antibiotics form reaching the abscess in his brain stem. His survival functions are being jeopardized. The doctors are trying to figure out what to do. Please pray for Liam and his family. Also, thanks for the many prayers for Liam over the last couple of weeks. They are very appreciated.
