Psalm 49

Today we are reading Psalm 49. In this psalm we read about the temporary nature of worldly wealth. “Be not afraid when a man becomes rich, when the glory of his house increases. For when he dies he will carry nothing away; his glory will not go down after him.” ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭49:16-17‬ ‭ESV‬‬ It’s hard to live in this world and not be impressed or distracted by worldly wealth. Yet, as the psalmist writes, “he will carry nothing away”. When you view your possessions, how do you feel? When God views the totality of who you are, where do your possessions fit in? How does your view of your possessions differ from God’s view? Now let’s talk about the purpose of your possessions. How do you use your wealth to serve God? Who benefits from your careful stewardship? How do you demonstrate generosity? May God’s abundant blessings bear abundant fruit that will last! Pastor Tim
