An update on Liam. After about 8 weeks in the hospital he finally has made it home! He still has a small abscess but it is responding to antibiotics. They will check the size of the abscess in a few weeks with a MRI. He cannot walk or talk and is receiving therapy at Childserve. Please pray for his recovery - it is unlikely that he will ever be the way he was but he almost died several times so the fact that he is still here is a miracle. Please pray for his family who not only have to deal with Liam's health issues but also the financial repercussions of his long hospital stay and his long road to recovery. Thanks again for all of your prayers!! It's a miracle that he has made it this far.

An extended family member, who is a police officer, was injured while on duty. To protect a firefighter, he climbed a high fence and, when he jumped down on the other side, he broke both lower legs and both ankles. He has had surgery, but will be on no weight bearing for 4-6 weeks, them limited weight bearing, followed by physical therapy. Please ask for physical healing, emotional healing and patience for him and his family, and that they trust God’s plan for them.

An update on Liam. Liam is finally responding to antibiotics and the inflammation in his brain is subsiding. In the past it has seemed like he took one step forward and three steps back but now he seems to be taking three steps forward and one step back. He still has a fever so the doctors are trying to determine why. They are hoping to move him to rehab soon. He was able to say "go awa" on a special device with a therapist but he could not manage the "y". It is progress. He is not one hundred percent out of the woods yet but the odds are highly in his favor. Please pray for his recovery. His brain has suffered a lot of damage and he will probably never be quite the way he was prior to this illness but it is still much better than his original prognosis. He and his family have a long difficult road ahead so thank you for your prayers and please continue praying for his recovery and for his family.

An update on Liam and a request for immediate prayers. He was looking a bit better and was breathing on his own but tonight he began to go downhill again. His brain is becoming inflamed and that inflammation is preventing the antibiotics form reaching the abscess in his brain stem. His survival functions are being jeopardized. The doctors are trying to figure out what to do. Please pray for Liam and his family. Also, thanks for the many prayers for Liam over the last couple of weeks. They are very appreciated.

Update on our contractor's son, Liam. He survived surgery. His bran stem infection had grown from the size of a cherry to the size of a tomato. They removed as much of the infection as they could. Hopefully, the antibiotics can eliminate the rest of the infection. If he survives he will probably have some lifetime issues from his ordeal. He is starting to breathe on his own. Thanks for the prayers - they are much appreciate and keep praying.

For the past week I have been asking for prayers for my contractor's son, Liam, and his family. They have requested immediate prayers. The doctors decided to do another MRI because his neurological signs were not improving. They discovered that the infection, rather than improving as expected, is spreading. He is being rushed into very dangerous brain surgery and may not make it. Please pray for Liam as well as his parent's, Joe and Jana, and his whole family. Thanks.

On December 14th I asked for prayers for my contractor's son who had just been diagnosed with a brain tumor. The day I posted it he was being air lifted to Iowa City. He did not make it that day because he crashed (physically) when they tried to transport him and had to be returned to the hospital here. The next day he made it to Iowa City and now I have an update. In Iowa City they discovered that he did not have a brain tumor. He actually has an abscess and massive infection of the brain stem. He is still very fragile (because it involves his brain stem) but if he survives he could completely recover. The family said "Keep up the prayers because it's working!" So, thanks so much for the prayers (and keep them up) because this family might just get a miracle. That would would be the best Christmas gift ever!

I would appreciate prayers for my contractor's family. His 12 year old son has been having some issues and they just discovered why this morning and he is being air lifted to Iowa City. He has a tumor wrap around his spinal cord and he is not expected to survive surgery. If he does, he is not expected to live more than six months. Just a month ago his son was playing football. My understanding is that Joe is absolutely falling apart while his wife is trying to hold things together. Please pray for Joe and Jana, their son, and the entire family. I don't honestly know what to pray for exactly but, perhaps, at times like these all you can ask for for God to be with them through these difficult times.

It was 28 years ago when old Missionary Gary met Rev. Dan Heuer and his dear family at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Davenport, Nebraska. Dan's wife, Deb, was just ready to deliver their son and I could tell immediately that this family was truly NOT NORMAL! They were special!
The years have passed so quickly and our friendship has grown and grown over the years! They are truly "part of my real family"!!! This morning I received a call from Deb, that Pastor Heuer is in the hospital dealing with fluid on his lungs from the impact of the cancer that is attacking his body.
The Heuer family lives in Fremont, Nebraska and we would ask each of you dear prayer warriors to pray for Pastor Heuer and his dear family in the days that lie ahead, that God's will might be done and that they might receive the peace and comfort that can only come from the hand of our Heavenly Father.

Thank you for all the prayers. My 4th April labs presented mixed results. Some of the numbers have improved but the immunity level hasn't budged. My doctor suggested we stop the chemo treatments and schedule a bone marrow biopsy. That is scheduled for next week on the 13th. Asking for prayers that the biopsy results show the chemo is working. If it shows its working, we might be able to back off on the chemo and give my immune system a chance to recover. In all of this the Lord is good and his will be done.

I have been receiving chemo treatments for about a year and over the last couple months my immunity levels have been reduced. They cut 2 days of each chemo series and have tried immunity boosting shots but, at best, they are keeping me just below the "critical low" level. I was supposed to start another round of chemo today but they decided to wait a week. I have an appointment with my hematologist on the 4th of April. Asking for prayers that this extra recovery week shows some signs of improvement in my labs and we can make some adjustments so the chemo does its job and immunity levels stablize or improve.
