Today we are reading James 1. In this chapter we read about the importance of living our Christian faith. The keyword for this chapter is “poi-ay-tai”. The definition is “one who performs an action, one who does something, doer.” “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.” James 1:22-25 ESV This word was used in Biblical times to refer to a person who was faithfully obedient to God’s Law. In a Christian context it means your walk and your talk are the same! We have to live our faith and be doers so that God can use us to reach the lost. How are you a doer of the word? Pastor Tim
