Today we are reading Isaiah 34. In this chapter we read about God’s judgement on the nations. “Draw near, O nations, to hear, and give attention, O peoples! Let the earth hear, and all that fills it; the world, and all that comes from it. For the Lord is enraged against all the nations, and furious against all their host; he has devoted them to destruction, has given them over for slaughter.” Isaiah 34:1-2 ESV The context of this passage was that the nations, who worshiped false gods, had been used by God to punish Israel. Now God was destroying them for their wickedness and cruelty. The point is that even those who don’t believe in God are accountable to Him. Those who commit violence against other people, especially Christians, will not be shown mercy on the Day of the Lord. That day is fast approaching so we must be tireless in spreading the Gospel.
