Genesis 8

Today we are reading Genesis 8. In this chapter we read about Noah and his family leaving the Ark. “Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar. And when the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done. While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.””
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭8‬:‭20‬-‭22‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Imagine what it must have been like to leave the Ark after the flood. What did the world look like? Was there still a lot of water everywhere? Were there dead things laying around? How long was it before it rained again? Did Noah and his family grieve the loss of the people and the world they had known? If you were there, what would you take away from the experience? Noah immediately made a sacrifice to God. This was his way of acknowledging God’s greatness. May you be powerfully aware of God’s greatness! May your life be a sacrifice of thanksgiving! Pastor Tim
