Acts 25

Today we are reading Acts 25. In this chapter Paul is still being held in prison in Caesarea. As political leaders come and go his case is brought up with each new leader.  Meanwhile, the Jews keep looking for an opportunity to kill Paul. The keyword for this chapter is “e-pi-ka-le-o-mai”. The definition for this word is “to call upon, to appeal. According to the Roman right of provocatio a Roman citizen had the right to be tried before Caesar.” This is the word Paul uses in verse 11, “If then I am a wrongdoer and have committed anything for which I deserve to die, I do not seek to escape death. But if there is nothing to their charges against me, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar.””
‭‭Acts‬ ‭25:11‬ ‭Paul used this right to escape the attacks of the Jews.  This was a powerful move which the Jews could not overcome.  When we call upon God the mighty name of Jesus is our escape and protection against the devil and his schemes. May God bless you today and every day to walk in the protection of Jesus!  Pastor Tim
