Today we are reading 1 Kings 21. In this chapter we read about Ahab and Jezebel conspiring to take Naboth’s vineyard. “(There was none who sold himself to do what was evil in the sight of the Lord like Ahab, whom Jezebel his wife incited. He acted very abominably in going after idols, as the Amorites had done, whom the Lord cast out before the people of Israel.)”
1 Kings 21:25-26 ESV The phrase “sold himself to do what was evil” is very descriptive. What comes to mind when you read that phrase? Can you think of a time when you “sold yourself”? To me I think of times when I do something I know is wrong. I also think of times when we align ourselves with a label or organization that has beliefs that conflict with God’s word. May God, who purchased and won you with the precious blood of Jesus, help you to never sell yourself to do what is evil. Pastor Tim
