Today we are reading 1 Chronicles 14. In this chapter we read about David’s victory over the Philistines who were seeking to kill him. “And the Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley. And when David again inquired of God, God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; go around and come against them opposite the balsam trees. And when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike down the army of the Philistines.” And David did as God commanded him, and they struck down the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer. And the fame of David went out into all lands, and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.” 1 Chronicles 14:13-17 ESV The Philistines were looking for David when he became king of Israel. They had killed Saul and his sons and were now seeking to kill his successor David. David called on the Lord and God gave him a crushing victory over his enemies. When have you called on God for his help? How has God defeated your enemies? Is there any enemy that God can’t help you with? May you always call on the Lord with confidence! Pastor Tim
