Created Through Him & For Him (Meyer)

For the most part we all understand that we have been created by God, and yet, we can even be more specific and say we were created by Jesus. We often call Jesus our “Redeemer” but we understand from God’s Word that He is also our “Creator”. John 1:1-5 reminds us that Jesus is in fact, our Creator God saying that “all things came into being by Him”, referring to Jesus. But Paul adds something to Jesus’ status as our “Creator” when he reminds us that we were not only created “through Him”...but we were also created “for Him”. In other words...He made us, therefore He owns us. Paul wrote in 1Corinthians 6 “You are not your own, you were bought at a price, therefore glorify God with your bodies.” We are not our own. We are created by Him. We are purchased by Him. We belong to Him. We are His. And that has definite implications on how we live our lives in this world! We remember today then, in our life in Christ we have been “Created Through Him and For Him.”
