Kingdom Attitudes (Meyer)
The culture of the early church was a culture that was founded on the values of shame and honor. Vengeance was expected when someone did you harm and yet the early Church operated from a different set of Kingdom Attitudes. They taught that forgiveness was greater than retaliation and love is greater than hate. This week we look at the example of Barnabas who advocated for Saul to be part of the Christian leadership. Even though Saul had ravaged the church, imprisoned families, and stood by as Stephen was killed Barnabas still led with reconciliation and forgiveness. As Christians Jesus told us that the world would know we are His disciples by the way we love one another. Our God is a God of love, grace, forgiveness and reconciliation and He calls His Church to take these values and live through them for all to see.
