The Messiah came to a humble city?
If you have ever read the Revelation, you know that the Lord Jesus is shown there as a conquering King or a mighty Warrior. John writes this about Jesus: “Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems…On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords!” Revelation 19:11,12 and 16. When you read that and further remember who Jesus is, not just as Messiah, but as God Almighty in the flesh, you wonder, why in the world would He come to an insignificant little town called Bethlehem and not Rome or other important Jewish city? Why would He come to the humblest of all possible towns of the day? Why indeed? And yet, we’ll remember that it truly speaks to who our Lord and God is as we remember today, “The Messiah Came to a Humble City!”
