Today we are reading Zephaniah 2. In this chapter we read about God‘s judgment on the surrounding nations that have tormented Israel.“Therefore, as I live,” declares the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, “Moab shall become like Sodom, and the Ammonites like Gomorrah, a land possessed by nettles and salt pits, and a waste forever. The remnant of my people shall plunder them, and the survivors of my nation shall possess them.” This shall be their lot in return for their pride, because they taunted and boasted against the people of the Lord of hosts. The Lord will be awesome against them; for he will famish all the gods of the earth, and to him shall bow down, each in its place, all the lands of the nations.” Zephaniah 2:9-11 ESV When Israel was under God‘s punishment all their neighbors took advantage of the situation. They joined in the attack. They enabled the invading armies. And, they taunted Israel in their time of suffering. Now, God is holding them accountable. God is reaching out his hand and destroying them. It is hard to comprehend the power of God. He can destroy the mightiest armies with ease. He can lift up the humble and make them mighty. It is comforting to know that because of our relationship with Jesus, God‘s mighty power is at work for our good. May God show you his mighty power today in Jesus name. Pastor Tim
