Zephaniah 1

Today we are reading Zephaniah 1. In this chapter we read about the sweeping destruction brought on the Israelites for their rebellion. “At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I will punish the men who are complacent, those who say in their hearts, ‘The Lord will not do good, nor will he do ill.’ Their goods shall be plundered, and their houses laid waste. Though they build houses, they shall not inhabit them; though they plant vineyards, they shall not drink wine from them.” Zephaniah‬ ‭1:12-13‬ ‭ESV‬‬ The people of Israel assumed that their behavior didn’t matter to God. They believed that since they were God’s people he would never do anything to harm them. But God sees everything. He sees our hearts. He knows our thoughts. And he knows if we are faithful to him. God says, “you shall have no other gods.” When we rebel and worship other gods He punishes us. But, if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just, and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. May God give you His Holy Spirit to guide you in all truth. Pastor Tim
