Zechariah 5

Today we are reading Zechariah 5. In this chapter we read about two visions condemning stealing, lying and wickedness. “Then he said to me, “This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole land. For everyone who steals shall be cleaned out according to what is on one side, and everyone who swears falsely shall be cleaned out according to what is on the other side. I will send it out, declares the Lord of hosts, and it shall enter the house of the thief, and the house of him who swears falsely by my name. And it shall remain in his house and consume it, both timber and stones.””‭‭ Zechariah‬ ‭5:3-4‬ ‭ESV While it’s clear that these three things are sin, God’s wrath is being poured out on the guilty because the sins come from hearts that have turned away from God.  The sins are the symptoms of the heart problems.  I once read that every sin is idolatry (the worship of a false god). The point being that when we choose sin we at the same time reject God. What false gods are the most tempting to you? How can you stop the thought process that leads to you rejecting God and choosing sin? Remember when Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness? How did He respond to the temptations? May God bless you to worship Him and nothing/no one else! Pastor Tim
