We Today we are reading Titus 1. In this chapter we read about the qualifications for an overseer (Pastor). The keyword for this chapter is “phil-a-ga-thos”. The definition is “lover of that which is good. It denotes devotion to all that is best.” “For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.” Titus 1:7-9 ESV This is an interesting qualification! How do you measure up to this standard? What are the good things you love? How does loving good things help you in serving Jesus? May God bless you to bless others by loving what is good! Pastor Tim
