Romans 9

Today we are reading Romans 9. in this chapter we read about Paul’s anxiety of the failure of Israel to believe in Jesus.  The keyword for this chapter is “a-nath-e-ma”. The definition is “a thing or person devoted to destruction, accursed”.  More specifically, it refers to a person under God’s divine curse.  Paul uses the word like this, “For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh.” Romans‬ ‭9:3‬  Paul grieves the fact that his brother Jews have rejected Jesus.  He knows that their unbelief will result in eternal punishment.
