Romans 6

Today we are reading Romans 6.  In this chapter Paul writes about the call for believers to reject sin and live in a way that honors Jesus.  The keyword for this chapter is “par-is-tay-mi”.  The definition is “to place beside, to put at one’s disposal, to present. The word could be used in a military sense.  Paul uses the word to convey two opposite ideas, “Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.” Romans‬ ‭6:13‬ ‭The first idea Paul is putting forth is that we shoul stop presenting ourselves for sin. Stop pursuing things that God calls sin.  You have been brought from death to life.  Stop turning back to the things that lead to death.  The second idea is that we should make ourselves available to be used by God to do His good things.  What is the unrighteousness thing you are tempted to pursue? What is the good thing God is calling you to do?  May God give you the strength to do His will in Jesus’ name!  Pastor Tim
