Today we are reading Romans 3. In this chapter we read about the righteousness from God through faith. “But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,” Romans 3:21-24 ESV These verses make it clear that we all fall short of God’s standard for righteousness. If we believe in Jesus as our Savior then we have forgiveness and salvation as His gift. For the Jewish believers in Rome these truths had to be hammered home. They were used to relying on their obedience to the law—which never gave them peace and hope. The message Paul was proclaiming set them free from the impossible demands of the law.
