Today we are reading Romans 2. In this chapter Paul writes about the necessity of inner faith. “Then he who is physically uncircumcised but keeps the law will condemn you who have the written code and circumcision but break the law. For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.” Romans 2:27-29 ESV Paul is writing to Jewish Christians in the Gentile city of Rome. It was confusing for the Jews to maintain their faith in such a pagan world. Paul is saying that the outward things—like circumcision—are not what makes you a child of God. It is your faith in Jesus, and the impact of your faith on your choices and behavior that are important. How does your faith impact your priorities, choices and behavior? May your true identity be evident to all. Pastor Tim
