Today we are reading Romans 13. In this chapter we read about submitting to those in authority.“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.” Romans 13:1-2 ESV As we read these words, notice there is no provision for the authority we do not like. God calls us to submit to every governing authority. If the person is corrupt, dishonest, tyrannical, foolish or weak we must still submit to them. This does not mean we must agree with them or be part of their wickedness. It means we must pray for them and love them as any other neighbor. How often do you pray for those in authority over you? As often as you are tempted to malign them you should pray for them. May God enable you to do so. Pastor Tim
