Today we are reading Romans 12. The keyword for this chapter is “eu-a-res-tos”. The definition is “well-pleasing”. Paul uses this word to describe a key feature of living as a Christian—we live not to please ourselves but to please God. “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1 So, what does pleasing God look like? It includes a Christ-like servant attitude— a “not my will, but thy will be done”. It includes a seeking of God’s direction and a testing of our thinking. Why do we do this? Is it a way to manipulate God into doing what we want? No. It is an appropriate “thank you” for all that Jesus has done for us. May God fill you with joy today as you serve Him in Jesus’ name!
