Today we are reading Revelation 7. In this chapter we read about an amazing scene around the throne of God. The keyword for this chapter is “a-rith-mos”. The definition is “number”. “And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel: After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,” Revelation 7:4, 9 ESV These numbers describe those who will be saved. While the numbers are large they represent only a fraction of humanity. Tragically, the vast majority of humanity will not be saved. Our purpose is reach the lost and our time is running out quickly.
