Revelation 4

Today we are reading Revelation 4. In this chapter we read about the throne of God in Heaven. “After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, with golden crowns on their heads.” ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭4:1-4‬ ‭ESV‬‬ The Book of Revelation is filled with imagery and symbolism. Numbers are especially significant. The number 24 (24 thrones and 24 elders) correspond to the twelve tribes of Israel and the Twelve Disciples. Together the 24 symbolize the total number of believers from the Old Testament Judaism and New Testament Christianity. We are all represented around the throne of Jesus in Heaven. In the vision, John saw himself (as one of the disciples). John was about 90 years old when he wrote the Book of Revelation. How comforting it must have been for him to see eternal joy. How can these things be comforting to you as well? May God use you to share this comfort with other believers! Pastor Tim
