Today we are reading Revelation 13. In this chapter we read about devastating creatures who cause suffering for humanity. The keyword for this chapter is “ther-i-on”. The definition is “beast, monster, wild animal, especially the ones hunted, hostile, and odious to man. The word describes the qualities of a dangerous person who is vicious, cruel, cunning, to be feared and unpredictable in his actions.” “And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads. And the beast that I saw was like a leopard; its feet were like a bear’s, and its mouth was like a lion’s mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority. Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon.”
Revelation 13:1-2, 11 ESV Everything about the devil is awful. He is the Father of Lies, the Deceiver, the Accuser, and many other terrible things. We could dwell on the pain and suffering the beast brings but the bottom line is that in Jesus’ name we have a victory over sin, death and the devil (beast). This is the truth of who we are. The beast is beaten by the death and resurrection of Jesus. We conquer the beast by the blood of the Lamb! May God bless you to walk in this victory! Pastor Tim
