Today we are reading Psalm 46. In this psalm we read that God is our fortress. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah” Psalm 46:1-3, 10-11 In the time of ancient Israel, a fortress was extremely important. The people were constantly on their guard against invaders. Every town of significance had a protective wall around it. When you think of our world today, how do we stay on our guard? Who do we guard against? Is God your fortress? What does that mean? May God truly be your fortress and strength! Pastor Tim
