Psalm 141

Today we are reading Psalm 141. In this psalm we read about David asking God to guide him in life. “O Lord, I call upon you; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to you! Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice! Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips! Do not let my heart incline to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with men who work iniquity, and let me not eat of their delicacies!” Psalm‬ ‭141:1-4‬ ‭ESV‬‬ David’s prayers focus on God helping him overcome his sinful tendencies. He prays for his words—that they may be pleasing to God. He prays for his heart—that he will not allow himself to be led astray. He prays for his work—that he will not get caught in the works of evildoers. David struggled in all these ways. We struggle in these ways too. Being diligent in prayer helps us to face our struggles and bring God’s help into our fight. May God strengthen you today to be victorious in Jesus’ name! Pastor Tim
