Philippians 4

Today we are reading Philippians 4. In this chapter we read Paul’s final instructions to the church at Philippi. The keyword for this chapter is “au-tar-kays”. The definition is “content, being self-sufficient, having enough. The word indicates independence of external circumstances and often means the state of one who supports himself without aid from others. The word indicates an inward self-sufficiency, as opposed to the lack of desire of outward things.” “Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians‬ ‭4:11-13‬ ‭ESV‬‬ What makes you feel content? What makes you feel discontent? These questions identify where you look to find peace. Anything other than Jesus will only bring you brief contentment. May God help you to seek contentment only in Him.  Pastor Tim
