Today we are reading Philippians 4. In this chapter we read Paul’s final instructions to the church at Philippi. The keyword for this chapter is “au-tar-kays”. The definition is “content, being self-sufficient, having enough. The word indicates independence of external circumstances and often means the state of one who supports himself without aid from others. The word indicates an inward self-sufficiency, as opposed to the lack of desire of outward things.” “Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:11-13 ESV What makes you feel content? What makes you feel discontent? These questions identify where you look to find peace.
