Today we are reading Obadiah. In this one chapter book Obadiah writes around 586 B.C. as the Southern Kingdom of Judah is overthrown. The book is decidedly anti-Edom (modern day Jordan east of the Dead Sea. There is a long standing feud between Israel and Edom. Now God is promising to bring back the Exiles. “For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you; your deeds shall return on your own head.”
Obadiah 1:15 ESV Who do you have a feud with? How do you react when someone you don’t like goes through a hard time? God is punishing Edom for finding pleasure in Israel’s suffering. May God give you His heart for those who suffer! Pastor Tim
