Series: Jesus is Greater than Everything

Pastor A: Joe Meyer

Pastor B: Ben Johnson

Message Summary:

In our “Jesus is Greater Than” series today we jump into a very important chapter because in chapter eight we’re reminded of what the writer calls “the old covenant.” The “old covenant” given by God many years ago, was filled with rules and regulations and “do this” and “don’t do that”…all of which had to be kept perfectly, without fault, without mistake. But what we often miss is that the Lord put that covenant in place to show His children, to show us, that we could never do what He was asking and to cause us then to look to Him for help instead. The old covenant was put in place to point to the need for the new covenant where it wasn’t about “sacred duties”, but about our Savior Jesus, who would, as the writer says it in verse twelve, “…be merciful toward their iniquities, and…remember their sins no more.” – Hebrews 8:12. In Christ we are relieved of our need to be perfect and better yet, we are forgiven of our sins when we’re not perfect, because as we will remember today, Jesus is greater than sacred duties!
