Matthew 9

Today we are reading Matthew 9. In this chapter we read about Jesus’ ministry in and around Capernaum. The keyword for this chapter is “a-phi-ay-mi”. The definition is “to depart”, passive = “to be forgiven.” “And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9:2‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Imagine you are battling some incurable disease.  You go to your doctor and he says, “You should feel good, your sins are forgiven!”  How would you react? To be forgiven would seem trivial compared to your illness.  That is not how Jesus sees it! Your sin is your biggest problem and He has taken care of that! You are forgiven because He loves you! You are forgiven because He hung, bled and died for you on the cross. You are forgiven because He rose from the dead and conquered sin, death and the devil for you. You are forgiven and you will live forever in Heaven!  So, “take heart, your sins are forgiven!”  Pastor Tim
