Matthew 8

Today we are reading Matthew 8. In this chapter we read about Jesus concluding His ministry in the Jewish community of Capernaum. Now He and the disciples are traveling by boat across the Sea of Galilee to Gentile territory.

“And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”” Matthew‬ ‭8:23-27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ It is interesting that in between preaching to the Jews and preaching to the Gentiles Jesus demonstrates His authority over even the winds and the waves. This experience gave the disciples great courage as they learned more and more who Jesus is. How have you grown in knowing Jesus? How has He inspired you to trust in Him? May God calm all your storms today. Pastor Tim
