Today we are reading Matthew 6. In this chapter we continue to read Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. “”Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”
Matthew 6:25-27 ESV The people of Jesus’ time struggled with anxiety too! Their lives were much less secure than ours. They lived in very small houses scratching out an existence heavily dependent on weather and each days’ success. Jesus promised that God would provide what they needed. How has God provided for you? Do you trust that He will continue His loving care for you? When we focus on celebrating the blessings of God the weeds of anxiety have no room to grow! May God fill you with gratitude and peace.
