Matthew 23

Today we are reading Matthew 23. In this chapter we read about Jesus blasting the Scribes and Pharisees for their religious pretense. “”Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!” Matthew‬ ‭23:23-24‬ ‭ESV‬‬ What is Jesus saying here? The religious leaders are excellent in what is insignificant and completely negligent in what is essential. What about you? Do you speak out and support justice, mercy and faithfulness? Do you protect the lives of babies before they are born? Do you honor the elderly? Are you faithful in all you do? Do you forgive those who have harmed you? May God fill you with the Holy Spirit today so that you may do all these things in His name! Pastor Tim
