Today we are reading Matthew 22. In this chapter Jesus is challenged by the Pharisees and Sadducees. In response Jesus talks about the greatest commandment.“But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.””
Matthew 22:34-40 ESV Today we live in a world filled with division. We are constantly hearing about what we disagree on. Disagreement is not necessarily a bad thing. Hatred and violence are always bad things. Jesus clearly teaches us to “love God and love our neighbors”. How have you fallen short in this area? How have you not loved God? How have you not loved your neighbors? Now let’s turn that around. How has God loved you? This is the basis for loving Him and loving our neighbors. May God so fill you with His love that it flows over in everything you do! Pastor Tim
