Matthew 20

Today we are reading Matthew 20. In this chapter we read about Jesus predicting his death and resurrection. “And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.”” Matthew‬ ‭20:17-19‬ ‭ESV‬‬ How would you react if you were one of the disciples? Have you ever been with someone when they received a terminal diagnosis? What is different about what the disciples have just heard? As you look back to that time 2,000 years ago, what comes to mind? The disciples initial reaction was most likely strong opposition to what Jesus said. After the resurrection, they saw the purpose and victory won by Jesus’ death and resurrection. May God give you the joy of your salvation today! Pastor Tim
