Matthew 16

Today we are reading Matthew 16. In this chapter we we read about Jesus continual conversations with the religious leaders and His ministry in the far north of Israel. The keyword for this chapter is “say-mei-on”. The definition is “sign, here used in the sense of proof of Jesus’ power and eschatological office.” “And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test him they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. He answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” So he left them and departed.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16:1-4‬ ‭ESV‬‬ When you observe the weather and other conditions you are able to read the signs of what season it is. Jesus “signs” also indicated the eschatological season and demonstrated that He was the Messiah. What signs are you currently observing in the world around you? What action should you take based on the signs?  Pastor Tim
