Matthew 15

Today we are reading Matthew 15. In this chapter we read about Jesus response to the Scribes and Pharisees.  The keyword for this chapter is “pa-ra-do-sis”. The definition is “tradition = the body of commentary added to the law and transmitted orally. The Scribes and Pharisees regarded it as of equal importance with the law.” “Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.” He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭15:1-3‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus’ opponents attacked him on the basis of human inventions referred to as tradition. The truth is that no human tradition—whether a form of worship, belief or philosophy is equal to God’s Holy and inspired word. What traditions do you encounter today? How can you know whether a tradition is a help or hindrance to you spiritually? May God give you His wisdom and truth revealed in His word. Pastor Tim
