Matthew 14

Today we are reading Matthew 14. In this chapter we read about Jesus walking on the sea. The keyword for this chapter is “thar-se-o”. The definition is “to be cheerful, to have courage”. “And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”” Matthew‬ ‭14:25-27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ What are the events in your life that cause you to be afraid? Jesus says to the disciples to “take heart” even when they are scared. To take heart means that we can take what is terrifying to us and give it to Jesus. If we keep our eyes on Jesus we can “take heart” in His love and mercy. We can trust Him with our fears. May God give you peace today in Jesus! Pastor Tim
