Matthew 13

Today we are reading Matthew 13. In this chapter we read about a particular method that Jesus used for teaching. The keyword for this chapter is “pa-ra-bo-lay”. The definition is “parable, a simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson.” “That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat down. And the whole crowd stood on the beach. And he told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow.” Matthew‬ ‭13:1-3‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus used parables to illustrate spiritual truths. Which is your favorite parable? Why do you think Jesus taught in this way? It seems that it is easier to remember a story than straight up teaching. If you can remember the parable you will have an opportunity to reflect on the deeper meaning. Think of some of the parables you remember. As you recall the parables what thoughts accompany them? May the Holy Spirit guide you in all truth.  Pastor Tim
