Today we are reading Matthew 12. In this chapter Jesus continues to teach in the Galilee region. “While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”” Matthew 12:46, 48-50 In this setting, Jesus’ brothers and mother have come to speak to him. Have you ever had a “family meeting” to confront a relative? In Mark 3 Jesus’ family thinks He is out of His mind so they come to take charge of Him. This may be the case here as well. Jesus, in response, says His family members are those who do the will of His Father. Do you surround yourself with people who do God’s will? Who in your life is not doing God’s will? As Christians we need to make sure we do not have spiritually unhealthy people influencing us. May God bless you with wisdom in all your relationships. Pastor Tim
