Matthew 11

Today we are reading Matthew 11. In this chapter we read about Jesus preaching in the various villages and then later denouncing some for their un belief. The chapter concludes as Jesus invites all who are weary to come to Him. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”” Matthew‬ ‭11:28-30‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We are now more than two months living with the pandemic restrictions on our life. There are many things we are weary of. What is at the top of your list? Why do you think you are so tired of that thing? For me it would have to be the social distancing. Not being able to be with people has been very hard. I want to make my visits to the hospitals and care centers. I want to give communion to our home-bound friends. What is God teaching us in this weariness? “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Jesus’ words are trustworthy. Take Him up on it! Give your weariness to Him and He will give you the rest you need. Pastor Tim
