Today we are reading Matthew 10. In this chapter we read about the followers of Jesus. The keyword for this chapter is “a-po-sto-los”. The definition is “apostle, one sent out. It indicates one sent out with personal authority and as a representative of the one sending.” “And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction. The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.” Matthew 10:1-4 ESV To be an apostle is a special designation. It goes beyond student or disciple. An apostle is a student who has been approved and given the special authority and mission by the sender (Jesus). How does this apply to you? What authority has Jesus given you? What mission has Jesus given you? God bless you today and every day as you serve Him. Pastor Tim
