Today we are reading Mark 7. In this chapter we read about Jesus challenging the traditions of the Pharisees. “And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?” And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”” Mark 7:5-8 ESV When I first read these words I was convicted! Many times I had sat in church physically but my heart and mind were elsewhere. How can we make sure we are not like the Pharisees? How can we make sure we are sincerely worshipping God and not simply following traditions? The best way to do that is to be in God’s word daily and also to have an active prayer life. May God bless you and keep close. Pastor Tim
