Mark 6

Today we are reading Mark 6. In this chapter we read about Jesus being rejected in His hometown, the sending out of the 12, the death of John the Baptist, the Feeding of the 5,000, walking in the Sea of Galilee and His ministry in Gennesaret.“When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret and moored to the shore. And when they got out of the boat, the people immediately recognized him and ran about the whole region and began to bring the sick people on their beds to wherever they heard he was. And wherever he came, in villages, cities, or countryside, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and implored him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well.” Mark‬ ‭6:53-56‬ ‭ESV‬‬ There are so many great stories we could discuss in this chapter but I think it is fascinating to see how Jesus’ daily ministry impacted a community. It makes me consider how I am impacting the people in my neighborhood. Do people know me and what I am all about? Do they have a favorable impression of me? Am I living in a way that gives God glory? How can I serve my neighbors?  I believe we need to do our best to, as Mother Theresa said, “Preach the Gospel at all times and if necessary use words!” I believe she was quoting St. Francis of Assisi. May God inspire you to make a difference in your neighborhood today and every day! Pastor Tim
