Mark 4

Today we are reading Mark 4. In this chapter we read parables describing the Kingdom of God. The keyword for this chapter is “spor-os”.  The definition is “seed”. “”Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. And he said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. And he said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown on the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth,” Mark‬ ‭4:3-4, 26, 30-31‬ ‭ESV‬‬ There are several different words used by Jesus for our English word seed. The concept portrayed is the same though—the Kingdom of God is spread as people share the message about Jesus. The message is the seed. The idea I take away is that God desires us to spread the message or seed everywhere we go and He will cause the growth. Where is the most unlikely place for you to sow the seed in your life? As you sow the seed, focus on the harvest! Think of the potential every time God’s Word comes out of your mouth! Be bold! Be faithful!  Pastor Tim
